Got my first workout in at the gym on the TM- ran 3 easy, 3 @ 6:27 pace, and finished with "cooldown" mile.

Ran with my 4-year-old in a 3k (1.9 miles)...she did it in 22:07 and came in 2nd place for 5 and under (turns 5 in January)...came home and did TM work-out...1-mile warm-up, 2 miles @ 6:22 pace...5 minute break to take my shoes off and sweat (so as not to get too squishy)...back on the TM for 2 miles @ 6min pace and then a 1-mile "cooldown"...6 minutes is beginning to feel alot easier...plan to spread out these runs over the next couple of weeks...maybe do a 5-miler at 6-minute pace by September??

Did you get a bit emotional on the run with your daughter when she crossed the finish line? I have felt like crying when I have done that before with Julian.

Great job with the leg turn over, you will run a 10k soon at 6 min pace or better. The way I did it was put the TM to 10.2 and never looked back until I was at 6.2!! Next thing you know your running sub 6 for 10k road races.

I decided to miss the Crim tomorrow because of a wedding tomorrow and of course work, puts a lot of people out just for me. I would have loved to run a sub 102 but I will have to wait until next year. Missing the Crim motivated me to get another long run in this week, did 20 today 6:57 averag with no pick ups just nice and steady, not bad considering I did 22 miles Wed. So maybe its even better than running the Crim.

Your speed is constantly improving please keep impressing me!!!

Todd,

Not super emotional, but very proud! We passed a couple in their 30's who could not believe she had run the entire way..."did you guys run the whole thing? did you carry her for a while?"

Yeah, I know what it takes to improve my speed. I get into that "comfortable" rut of doing longer runs (8-20 miles) at a firm pace, but just hate those shorter ones at 6 minute pace or faster. Kind of like you starting to pick up your base mileage, I need to pick up my 1-10k runs. They can be painful, but I'm beginning to enjoy them. Also, I've made diet adjustments that will help the cause. Enjoy your family/wedding day!
