Jogged 2 miles down to the track (8:45pace), picked up the pace for a mile on the track (7:45), and then put it into slightly faster than marathon pace for 4 miles on the track (27 min/6:45 pace)...stopped for a drink of water jogged a quarter, ran 3/4 at 6:45 pace and then jogged 2 miles home.

3 slow miles on the TM...just a recovery run before a long one tomorrow.

Great job. The training is good. The consistent training with tempo miles will make you a lot faster and you will notice that soon.

Allie- thanks, my fall marathon is the 3rd weekend of Oct (19th or 20th). If I can stay consistent, perhaps the sub-3 is reachable. However, for this one I'll be satisfied with a pr (under 3:10). I'm also planning to run a marathon on thanksgiving weekend, so that is actually when I hope to dip beneath 3hrs.

Kory- thanks. I've finally gotten to the point in which I can "comfortably" do speedwork and tempos while maintaining a higher base. Almost got their in the winter, but then had to deal with the flu and strep throat. Was starting to get there this summer, but then did not run for 2 weeks while in Africa. Hopefully, if I stay healthy, I'll finally have a breakthrough this Fall.
