This is the first week in well over a month in which I've had 3 solid recovery days strung together in a row.  Felt very good.  Did a warm-up run to the track (8:45, 7:30).  Planned on running 4-5 mile repeats at 5k-10k pace.  First three were much quicker then I had planned...6:18, 6:00, 5:53...I definitely had another strong mile left in me, yet reminded myself that I am in the midst of a taper.  Jogged 2 miles back home for 7 miles total.  For the first time in months,  I decided to leave that final mile within me.  My hopes are to be very careful with diet over the next 9-10 days and have one "short, brisk run" early next week at mp, along with a few short bursts within slow runs.

Wow! Those are some very impressive mile repeats! Looks like the recovery is working well for you. You are going to be so ready for the marathon.

Jim,

Thanks! To things are helpful...1) The taper feels wonderful! 2) It was cold this morning...I've done 75% of my training in humidity (Having lived in Chicago for 5 year, I trust Indiana has similiar summer patterns).

Looks like your weekend might be a little warm, yet probably better conditions than much of your training weather has been. Hope you can get the proper rest this week...many of the veterans on the blog seem to think you're more than ready. Good luck!

Great run. It's best to leave that one mile out that you wanted to run, because your training is over and it's time to rest with just some intensity.

You have a great strategy for going into the marathon. It's important to get that last MP run in early on in the week of the marathon. It's a real confidence builder.

thanks Jeff! Hey, I'm not a drinker, but if I ever make in to the Master's Championship level competition, I'll join you for a cold one!
