I've finally come to terms with my denial. Although my foot isn't horrible, I'm not allowing it to heal properly. Rather then fighting it, I'm going to ease back into my running schedule. Maybe even take a few days off. This will be difficult due to how good my legs feel, yet it's just silly to rush into things when I have almost 5 months to prepare for Boston.

Good judgement. You won't lose a thing and will come back stronger. Might be a time to get it checked out by an MD or Podiatry just to make sure it's nothing serious. Lots of little bones in there you know. Just my 2 cents and clears up all doubt. Get well soon.

Thanks. I'm actually taking your advice. My wife's setting up an appointment for next week- rather be safe than sorry. I've had several aches and pains and have an extremely high level of pain tolerance, but I'm trying to see the "big picture" for Boston and want to get the best training in possible. Might as well start on the right foot.

Dave, I think you are smart for having your foot checked out. As you said you have a lot of time before Boston so good to get everything straight so that you can come back even stronger. You have a great base so some time off won't hurt. Hopefully, nothing serious maybe the rest will take care of it.

Yes, you probably developed that higher pain threshold from years of weight training. Once you get use to always being sore in weight training I think it desensitizes running induced pains. We might see the pain as no big deal, just a part of the process, and keep running. While others not use to persistent exercise induced pain might stop early. It can be both good and bad, but the trap is pushing too far while in pain from injury. I've had to work on that and be more sensitive to pain levels and what my body is telling me. Just some thoughts.

Jim, yes I'm hoping the doctor just prescribes rest. Robert, your assessment makes a lot of sense. I'd of kept going, but my body (or at least foot) would completely shut down. That's not normal for me. Got to the point where 10 miles was the absolute limit. Then I could only limp.

Have a doctor's appointment set for Monday morning. This will end my speculation. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Good choice. That is what I recently did with my foot problem and it cleared up with about a weeks rest (luckily it wasn't the issue that I feared). Besides, the break from running was not bad as it made me want to run again instead of feeling like I have to.

Good luck with the Doc on Monday.
